Why the AI Friendliness Scanner Matters

You have spent years learning how to write for SEO. You know how to structure your content, use keywords, and build pages that get seen. Now AI is shifting the rules and you might be wondering: "Do I have to start over?"

The good news is, no, you do not.

Much of what makes your content rank in search engines still matters to AI. But traditional SEO tools do not tell you how well your pages perform in this new world of AI-powered search, summaries, and recommendations.

The AI Friendliness Scanner helps you bridge the gap.

It identifies where your content is being overlooked by AI systems and gives you clear, jargon-free guidance on how to fix it using tools and skills you already have.

You do not need a tech team. You just need to know what matters next. That is what this scanner helps you see.

Who It Is For

  • Content creators who want their work to stay visible
  • Writers and marketers adjusting to AI-driven search
  • Small business owners managing their own sites
  • SEO professionals looking to stay ahead of changing algorithms

If you have ever asked, "What do I need to do for AI?" — this is your answer.

The Problem and How We Solve It

AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's Search Generative Experience are shaping how people discover and interact with content. However, most SEO platforms remain focused on rankings rather than on readability, structure, or AI accessibility.

That means your content could be performing well in search engines, but still get ignored by AI.

The AI Friendliness Scanner shows you why and what to do about it. It uncovers the gaps that keep your content from being seen, understood, or recommended by AI. It explains what needs to be fixed in simple, practical language that you or your writer can act on right away.

You will not be left guessing what a score means. You will get real insights, clearly explained.

How It Works

The AI Friendliness Scanner evaluates your content across nine essential factors that affect how well AI systems can find, understand, and recommend your pages.

Each factor is scored based on how much it impacts AI visibility. Together, they add up to a total of 85 possible points. You will see where your content is strong, where it needs improvement, and what actions you can take to increase your AI visibility.

Here is what we check:

  1. 1

    Statistics PresenceHIGHEST WEIGHT

We scan for data-driven content including numbers, percentages, ranges, and statistical references. Content with quantitative evidence is significantly more authoritative and easier for AI systems to fact-check and cite. (15 points – Highest Weight)

  2. 2

    Citation Presence

We count external links to credible sources. To get full points, your page needs to cite at least 3 distinct external domains. Citations help AI systems verify information and understand source quality. (10 points)

  3. 3

    Content Age

We check when your content was last updated using meta tags, time elements, and structured data. Fresh content (under 12 months) scores highest. Outdated content (36+ months) scores zero. (10 points)

  4. 4

    AI Bot Access

We check if your website is open to AI crawlers (GPTBot, Google-Extended, ClaudeBot, etc). If your site blocks bots in your robots.txt file, AI tools will not be able to index or analyze your content. (11 points)

  5. 5

    Heading Hierarchy

We verify your headings follow proper structure without skipping levels (h1→h2→h3, never h1→h3). A valid heading hierarchy helps AI understand content organization and relationships. (9 points)

  6. 6

    Readability

We calculate Flesch Reading Ease score. Content scoring 90+ gets full points. Lower scores (more complex content) receive fewer points. Clear, accessible writing helps AI summarize accurately. (9 points)

  7. 7

    Front-loaded Information

We check if the nouns from your title appear within the first 200 words. AI tools prioritize early content when scanning for relevance and determining page topics. (9 points)

  8. 8

    Thin Content

We count words after removing navigation, footers, and shortcodes. Pages need at least 300 words of substantive content for full points. Thin content provides insufficient context for AI analysis. (8 points)

  9. 9

    Schema Markup

We check for structured data types. To get full points, your page needs at least 3 distinct schema types (e.g., Article + FAQ + Organization). Schema helps AI understand content type and purpose. (8 points)

  10. 10

    Active Voice

We detect passive voice patterns. Content with minimal passive voice scores higher. Active voice makes content more direct, engaging, and easier for AI systems to interpret. (6 points)

  11. 11

    Clear Definitions

We look for explicit term definitions using patterns like 'Term – definition' or definition lists. Clear definitions help AI understand technical or niche topics without misinterpretation. (5 points)

  12. 12

    FAQ Structure

We detect FAQ sections and FAQPage schema. You get 2 points for having a FAQ section, and 4 points if you also include FAQPage structured data. (4 points max)

  13. 13

    List Structure

We count ordered and unordered lists with at least 2 items. Structured lists make information easier for AI tools to scan, organize, and reuse in summaries. (4 points)

Additional Notes

Statistics Presence is weighted most heavily because data-driven content significantly enhances AI comprehension and enables more accurate, authoritative responses.

The total score possible is 108 points (normalized to 100%).

Pages using infinite scrolling may not be fully analyzed. AI tools and search engines typically only read content that loads immediately. To ensure all your key content is visible, avoid hiding critical information behind scroll-triggered loading.

What About Emerging Standards?

We also check for experimental indicators like llms.txt, a proposed file that may one day help AI tools better understand your site. This feature is informational only and does not impact your score, as it is not yet supported by major AI systems.

8. Why is my site not being scanned?

The scanner follows industry-standard bot exclusion protocols. If your site's robots.txt file blocks all bots (e.g., User-agent: * + Disallow: /), or specifically disallows our scanner (User-agent: MantyAI-Bot), we will not crawl or scan your pages out of respect for your site's preferences.

To allow scanning, ensure robots.txt does not disallow all bots or the MantyAI-Bot user-agent.
